I see this as a great moral to follow by in life.
The inspiration came from a quite original man. He is an actor, comedian, basketball player and world Icon. He is none other than Shaquille O’neal.
What does Shack have to do with this article?
Earlier today I watched Shack’s interview on TV and I must say, he surely inspired me. In hir interview he said;
I want to be those players that gets remembered in games. You know I remember one day my father took me to the ball game and on the way there in the car he said; You know son, I hope these players are worth watching because I spent a lot of money on them”-Shack speaking what his father said.[...]..”and I told myself that I want to be remembered in games; in this game of basketball” – Shaquille O’neal.
No matter what kind of legacy you plan to leave behind, it is important to be an original. People who are an original go along way because their energy is being spent naturally at it’s highest level.
Life is Beautiful- One Step at a Time
This past week and a half I have been possessed by some evil demon I sware.
My head has been feeling heavy, I have been productive with a lazy attitude, my thoughts are mostly angry, and most importantly my relationships with my closest people are being disturbed in a negative way.
I have made some recent choices that are beginning to take fold into not what I had hoped for. I quit my retail job so I can have more time to focus on school and start an online business.
I told myself, as long as I work hard and push myself I am going to succeed. So far I have done just that but my life isn’t flowing the way I want it. School is benefitting but in terms of business, I feel trapped and stuck and my confidence is beginning to be hurt a little bit.
I have began to realize that I have a poor sense of time management and do not prioritize well. This has lead to my recent temper tantrums which today, my temper had ruined a well deserved winter breakfast for my family. I had two people walk out on me, leaving me to spend this sunday by me, myself and I.
I needed to resolve this issue, so what better than to express myself through my blog.
The message I want to deliver is to be bigger than your EGO. Don’t let yourself down because the process of life is not going the way you want it to be. Instead take the time to plan out what you want to achieve and live out the necessary steps to achieve what it is you desire. Why do I say this? I say this because your reality is a reflection of your inner reality aka dialogue. We are all one, therefore, your various relationships are just a relationship with yourself.
Remember, EGO is a trickster, so don’t be fooled by your own mind.
Life is Beautiful
I remember it was yesterday when I was searching University programs online to pick my future destiny aka path for success. Unfortunately, it was my dream and desire to go to UCLA but because of financial matters I had to choose a local school by the name of York University. I was never a big advocate for education in the form of social institutions but I knew that it was part of societies values and I had to go on with it. After all, my parents didn’t travel halfway around the world for nothing. I guess you gotta realize some people have it much worse than you do.
It didn’t take me long to form this perception about education: school is not the path for success. In fact, being a good student does not mean in any way that you are deemed for success. Success comes from the individual. In order to be successful, an individual must make the right choices. Follow the right habits. Associate with the right people. Interact with their community and so on and so forth.
Let’s take this forward as I explain “how to find your purpose in school”? so it’s not as bad as you think it is :S
Before I go on, I would like to speak about my credentials for this matter. I am a B- student (a very good one), have an education experience of 19 years and quite frankly, I think school is the worst job ever. What makes me talk about school like the way I do. It’s because I can relate with a lot of students in a lot of levels as I am a student myself. Also, I read so many books on self growth and self improvement, I have gotten quite a knack on how to improve certain areas of life, which is why I created this blog in order to share with you all =) School is one of those areas.
Before I go on, here’s a quote I truly think is the essence of how to handle education:
“Almost everything that you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it”-Mahatma Ghandi
So without further ado, let’s get on to more pressing matters.
First and foremost, CHANGE your mindset about school. I don’t mean, faking yourself by telling yourself ” I Love School. Writing Essays about turtles are my favorite thing. Computer codes are so cool”. Don’t get me wrong, if you passionately love what your studying, all kudos to you! But what do I mean about changing your mindset? I mean, instead of feeling like a victim to your program, CHANGE your program to a study that you feel passionate about. It’s never to late to change and that one change can make a whole difference.
An example I can give is myself. I entered university as a student of Information Technology, which I later transferred into Marketing and now I am in Communications. Since I stayed within the same institution, I didn’t suffer in terms of credits. I FINALLY found my program that I feel passionate about and love to study because it’s a study that comes naturally to me.
You see, if your one of those kinds of students who keeps complaining about school work and keep telling your friends as well as on Facebook, OMG school is killing me, than don’t you think maybe your not studying what you want to study? Has that ever crossed your mind. You see, PASSION, comes naturally as it is an indication that your soul is truly living out its purpose. If your going against your soul, that means your going against your self, and slowly but surely your soul will feel discouraged, angered, frustrated and in worst cases, you begin to get depressed.
It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Most people blame their parents for going into a program. YOUR parents want you to become doctors! want you to become lawyers! want you to become engineers! and all those others jobs and positions they try to preach to you from childhood. If your in a program because of your parents, YOU need to smell the coffee. WHY? Your parents are from history. At their times, those jobs were highly regarded but in today’s world, it’s who has great blog content, or who is the next big YouTube Guru and WHO has the most fans on Facebook etc…
This is the generation where you see a new breed of human civilization come to form. Just look at YouTube and see how many success stories have come from that one website alone. This small kid by the name of Beener, who is the age of I don’t know 8 years old, is making thousands online and earning himself celebrity status and the funny thing is, he’s making money off lip singing BUT that’s what he LOVES and is passionate to do. Watch his video, he is very entertaining I must say:
Beener is just an example that you need to BE YOU. By being genuine and authentic but most importantly knowing what you want, will take you a FAR way in life than what a bunch of outdated text books ever could.
After all, all you really have is yourself.
My advice is don’t be so dependent on school and education. Face this reality, what your learning now is outdated within a semesters time. So set goals, work to achieve them, HAVE a purpose and see how school fits your life and schedule, not the other way around.
Life Is Beautiful-One Step At a Time
A couple of days ago one of my closest friends sent me a text asking me,
“what if there is nothing in life one is passion about?”
and right away I told myself, OH MY, this is my topic for my next blog article.
Before I begin explaining my findings on passion and how to discover your hidden passion, it is important to understand why passion is so important and essential for us in our lives.
What’s the big deal about passion?
Passion is important because it’s the inner drive that moves you, shakes you and most of all, naturally guides you.For me, when I am passionate about something in my life, it just makes getting out of bed a WHOLE lot easier.
Here’s a fun exercise I’m sure you all will enjoy.
I want you to visualize this in your minds:
Imagine there are two people who are standing in front of you. Actually, imagine there is one person, aged 20, who is duplicated and is in front of your mind. Now, let’s name this person Bob and his duplicated version Bob 1. At 20, Bob was passionate about music, more particularly in the production of music, since as a teenager he would produce his own soundtracks. This was his passion. Unfortunately, Bob’s parents didn’t approve of Bob being a DJ albeit, he was a very talented artist, so he went to university which eventually landed him a 9-5 job in a marketing firm. Yes, as years went by, Bob became more successful financially, but he was always wishing he lived that DJ lifestlye and made his virtue that way.
Now, Bob 1, lived out his passion of music production. Instead, he worked low class jobs like stock boy at a retail store, just so he can save his money and buy the best DJ equipment. His parents were very angry and disappointed with him, his friends thought he was a loser and most people laughed at him when he said his passion is music. Bob, being very determined, lived out his passion daily by creating music and promoting it through YouTube, which he then got discovered and signed to a million dollar contract by Virgin Productions, and BOOM, he’s partying with models, all his haters are buying his CDs and most importantly, Bob is living stress free because he is being himself doing what he loves to do as he was born to do it. Bob 1 ENJOYS his life.
Now some people will come to argue that Bob 1 is very lucky as he knows what he’s passionate about and is living it each day. But is he really? This is my rebuttal to that argument: Life is about making choices, more specifically, YOUR choices. In Bob’s situation, he was influenced by the people around him which is why he didn’t make the right decision. Yeah financially he improved, but as an individual, his soul and mind are suffering which can lead to many problems down the road, ranging from health to social problems for Bob.
So How does one find their passion you may ask?
Luckily, I have formed a series of questions that help you to discover your hidden passions and bring them out to the forefront. Here they are:
1. If you achieved everything you set out to achieve, what would you love to do everyday for the rest of your life?
2. What grabs your attention when you walk around in the world, surf the internet, converse with people?
3. What was your favorite thing to do as a kid?
4. What do you think about everyday? & Why do you think about it?
All these questions will help you, but let me give you an example of myself. I love to write and talk about self improvement and positivity. In short, I love life and therefore I like to talk about life.
So the fundamental purpose to live by is to live with love. Love is many things. It comes in shapes and forms. Find what you love to do and you find that by loving yourself and being true to yourself.
It’s that simple.
Life is Beautiful- One Step At a Time.
How many promises have we made in our lives only to fall back and break them apart. We then begin to think, why did I make that promise in the first place and then you go on and doubt yourself in everything that you think and do.
Speaking for myself, one of the biggest frustrations going on in my life is sticking to the promises I make for people. In simplest words, being a man of my word. Now this doesn’t mean I can’t keep my promise or word but in fact, because I am a human being, I carry with me faults and strengths and it is my job to work on my faults and evolve as a human being.
What’s important to realize is, life is about evolution and growth. There is always walking that 1.5 k marathon so you know you can then walk that 2 k marathon next year, just saying, as an example. In short, make mistakes so you learn from them instead of being a passive person on life and begin to think life is just going to give you your lemons when you want to make lemonade.
For myself, as well as many others, keeping a promise is an area of improvement for me. Like everything else, there are certain beliefs, methods and strategies an individual can do in order to achieve a required result. I’ve listed below some standards to live by that I believe well assist you in keeping your next promise to someone but most importantly, keeping a promise to yourself:
1) Don’t promise anything to others- I say this based upon the the notion or belief ; “you can’t predict the future”.
2) You’ve got no one but yourself- You know that favorite saying; “Your born alone and you die alone, you’ve got no one but yourself”. This is rooted out from the great philosopher known as Machiavelli, who believed that if anyone was going to do something they should do it for themselves and not for others. So in short, if you make a promise it is not because of another persons own power or will, it is because of YOURSELF. It is your karma, your rules, and every word and thought you make will eventually create the reality you live in.
3) Make a standard, not a promise- The reason I say this is because the word standard is taking the word promise and turning it into an action word. For example, I Andre Tehrani PROMISE myself to quit smoking, as opposed to; I Andre Tehrani no longer want to be a smoker and this is my standard. So you see, standard builds character.
To change your lifestyle and life circumstances, you need to ACT, and act upon those faults that bring you down.
How else are you going to evolve and grow?
Life Is Beautiful- One Step At A Time
Well actually, it is really simple. So simple, you have no idea. I am going to introduce a phenomena that has been spreading out in the world and is changing lives every second of every minute of every day and so on and so forth. It’s nothing new, I am sure you have heard of it numerous of times, it’s called the law of attraction.
I am a believer of this law mainly because I have seen the magic it carries within. In fact, the universe is my best friend now. It’s a friend that I can call upon and COUNT on for numerous things that are tailored to all my wants and needs.
All I simply do is, I think very clearly what I want in my life that I don’t already have, and see myself obtaining it. I then begin to work on those things that will help me achieve it. For instance, if I want an Audi s5 and I am only making 1,000 a month, I need to cut my excessive spending habits on outside food, socializing events in order to begin saving my money to invest in stocks, mutual funds, maybe even become a venture capitalist for small time businesses, you never know, but you get the drift. If all I do is spend, spend, spend, all I am doing is turning that s5 into a Lambo unnecessarily.
One characteristic about me is I like relating things to one another. So the best way I can explain the law of attraction is to relate it’s presence in a movie I recently watched that shows how it is truly designed.
One of my favorite actors by the name of Denzel Washington, plays the main character in the movie “The Book of Eli”. In this movie, Denzel possesses the bible and is in service by fate/God to deliver it to a safe place in order to save the world from it’s doomed end. What we find out in the end of the film is that Denzel Washington is blind but he still finds his way to his fateful destination. This is a clear example of how the universe works: He decided in his mind that he is going to reach his destination and give the bible to the saviors of our planet, being blind he walks the unknown (future) trusting in the universe that he is being guided to his ultimate goal, and lastly, he reaches his GOAL and completes his mission by acting through his own fate, which was determined in his mind through taking that one step of a thousand miles.
Now I am not saying you have to act like Denzel and do something bold as in walk halfway across the United States to deliver a book. But reality is simply a perception of our mind, and we can create it with the use of our mind by being clear on what path we want to take, being determined to take that path and trust in the powers of the universe that we will reach our FINAL DESTINATION.
For some that final destination could be obtaining their dream car, for someone else it could be finding a love partner, for me, it’s being an achiever in life and helping others to succeed in anyway I can. You have to know what you want, why you want it and what are the actions you must take to obtain whatever you desire.
So plant your seeds, water them, and allow your thoughts (seeds) to blossom your reality.
Thank you for taking the time to read my article.
Life Is Beautiful – One Step At a Time.
I have been very interested to learn more about myself the past couple of days. I want to discover things like what is my purpose and why am I here? So I figured why don’t I start meditating.
Soon after I discovered a book by Eckhart Toole called “The Power of Now”. Mr. Tools says that the whole point of living is living now, in the present moment. This means that your , your mind is the creation of your reality.
We all are living for a common purpose whether it be for your self or for something higher. Here is something I usually do, that helps me live in the present moment.
I look myself in the mirror everyday, realizing that that second which just passed by is something I am never going to get back. Time is our biggest asset, so use it wisely. Just connect yourself with the present moment, slow time down and begin to think and act how you want your life to be. Look in the mirror and talk to yourself about what’s currently happening in your life that you love, admire and appreciate. You’ll soon notice that everything you want, you already own. That’s why it’s so important in being grateful as you realize that everything you have is here in the now.
Thank You Eckhart Toole.
Life is Beautiful-One Step At A Time
Last year, “2009″, was a discovery year for me as it consisted of a lot of soul searching. In the middle of doing some soul searching, one of my closest friends advised me to start writing my thoughts and feelings down on a journal or diary of any sort.
“The Purpose of having a diary or journal of any sort is to help you understand your inner feelings, emotions, and consciousness of the present moment so you keep in balance with your internal reality.”- she said.
So I took action and decided to write a journal aka diary, actually, I was kinda forced to because my friend had given me a journal to write in for my birthday since she saw me procrastinating, which in my opinion is the most deadliest sin to mankind!
Now, don’t get me wrong here, I wasn’t as enthusiastic about journal writing back then as I am now. Sometimes I would write in my journal once a month, or twice a week, very random and up in the air. But I don’t feel bad about it because what I learned about journal writing is, you don’t have to write in it so much, BUT, you must write in it. Quality over quantity as they say and I say. The reason being; when you write things down on paper, your sub conscious mind (thoughts, feelings, inner & higher self) is declaring to the universe what destiny and happenings your life path will consist of. You put fate in your own hands and that’s what elite people do. People who are on top of their lives.
As I reflect upon my many journal entries now, all the things that I wanted to receive or happen to me, ended up happening. Many of you will recognize this phenomena as the ever famous universal law, “the law of attraction”. Yes, I am a huge believer in that. For instance, in January 18th, 2009 I wanted to buy a condominium and I wrote that down on my journal passionately and enthusiastically with a lot of emotions running through my blood as I looked like a child seeing Barney for the very first time. On August 8th, 2009, I made an outstanding investment through purchasing a property, a condo, inside the unique location of Distillery District, Toronto, ON.
I don’t know how it happened or why it happened at that given time period, all I know is that it happened because I set my mind to it and made it my number one priority for 2009. The message I want to convey here is, write everything you want in a journal or paper, as it declares to the universe what to send you.
It’s called “Ask and it’s Given”, and once you initiate this movement in your life, wonders will start happening. Don’t be lazy or ignorant when you read this, start now by writing down what you want and feel your bodies energy flow and vibrate and send the right vibes to the universe. Also, you begin to see who you are and what your made of in front of your very own eyes.
I want you all to see the universe in a whole new lighting which I’m positive every reader can relate to. I’m sure all the readers of this posting have watched the famous Disney cartoon, Aladdin. If you haven’t, the concept still applies to you. The universe is your genie, but what makes it better is it grants you all the wishes you desire. The catch, you must sacrifice something in order to receive. If you want riches, then you must sacrifice your time that you waste watching television, gossiping, chit chat on online sites etc… and begin to spend your time on educating yourself, getting out there, building your personality and so forth.
Thank you for reading this post. Many more to come. Just know that by reading this post, you have advanced yourself to a higher state of being. Remember, talk is nothing without walk.
P.S. FOR IPHONE USERS! I know technology makes life more simpler, so for those of you who don’t like writing much or are constantly on the go, download the “Evernote” application. I love it because it allows you to jot down notes by text, audio, video and sound, so it’s a modern journal, for free, that fits to your lifestyle.
