How to Love People

Posted by Andre Tehrani on July 4, 2011 in Self Help

I was lying down on my bed yesterday feeling overwhelemed with my new job, my parents divorce and the relationships that surround me. I kept feeling that I was alone in this world no matter what. The reason I felt that way was because I believed everyone cared about themselves only, as the saying goes; “everybody loves talking about themselves”. Is that statement true?

Well, for experimental purposes,  I told myself to resist the urges of talking about myself when conversations arose. I did this experiment as a form of training for my sales career, where we implement the strategy of getting people to talk so we can listen better.  What did I discover?

I found that it is by people that I learn more about myself. Afterall, I can’t see myself unless I look in a mirror and I’m not totally self indulged to the point where I take a mirror with me everywhere I go LOL. The bottom line is this; we’re all here to learn about ourselves from each other. That’s why were human and everyone has a message to offer you.

Here’s an example. I work in Downtown Toronto so on my way from the subway to the office I usually encounter a homeless man, arrogant individual and a pleasant receptionist. So how do I learn more about myself by passing by these people.

When  I walk by the homeless man I am reminded why I am going to work everyday and I feel grateful for having a family that loves and supports me. When I pass by the arrogant individual who he/she is usually too into themselves, I am reminded by how close minded someone can be because I feel that individual is so wrapped up into themselves that their missing out on the beauties of life that surround them 360 degrees. My pleasant receptionist shows me how much of an impact a smile has on other people.

This is the power of observation. We all have a message to deliver, some more important than others, but know this, our environment is always sending us messages.

We just need to listen and be aware of the message(s) being delivered.

The secret is how you interpret the meanings. For instance, I can look at the homeless man and chose to feel sympathy, fear but instead I chose to see it as a reminder of being grateful for the opportunities at my hand.

That is all.

The Art of Being Yourself

Posted by Andre Tehrani on June 25, 2011 in Self Help

What’s the rush?

What are you always chasing?

Why?

I think I can relate to a lot of people that at many times, I feel like I have no self time. There’s always something I need do and have done a certain way. But most of the times, when I do get what I want faster than I thought of, I become unfulfilled because I ask myself;

“Is this it? really”

Then begin planning for the next best thing. As they tell me, “I got to caught up” being in the search for;

The next opportunity, the next fashion piece and the next hope for happiness.

But at the end of the day, we make choices, that ultimately can change our life for better or for worse.

You become one with yourself when you clarify what you want and when you want it?

Life will just deliver it to you, but it’s your job to be aware and most of all grateful about life.

That’s why we all need to learn on how to

“Stop, and take a second”.

& listen to what your feelings CAN tell you.

Get Rid of Feeling Empty

Posted by Andre Tehrani on June 22, 2011 in Motivation, Self Help

The last post I wrote seemed like ages ago. But I felt like I had nothing else to write, or so I thought.

I thought to myself, am I feeling empty? Am I running out of words to say, confused with the feelings I feel?

I was in a block. Felt helpless in the sense that I couldn’t tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong. I began to understand that my emptiness was a case of expectations of the future which got me being distracted from living in the moment.

You see, I believe we begin to feel empty when we put future expectations on ourselves and expect they get met and when they don’t, well, we begin to feel like something is missing inside of us. The truth is, the moment is always now and not tomorrow. You see, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching. No I didn’t go away to Tibet, or hike across the himalayas. Although, I do plan on crossing that off my bucket list hopefully soon.  I began taking a journey inside myself; you know the popular saying that goes “I think therefore I am”-Descartes.

Why did I begin this journey. For starters, I felt empty. Felt as though I had lived all the ages, done all the things, met all the kinds of people so what’s the point in life. The true reason was because I wanted to find meaning in my life so I started to listen to myself and really learn how to listen to my inner voice.  Most people identify this voice as intuition but for explanatory purposes, your inner voice can be identified as the thoughts you feel that come to your head from the heart. Hope that makes sense. Or, I also feel it that when I know I am making a wrong decision, my gut feels troubled and uneasy.

I learned that the key to getting rid of emptiness is by knowing first hand that you are not empty; literally speaking. After all, I believe there is a soul inside of us and my journey began by learning to feel my soul inside of me. A source of energy waiting to be found.

Now, I want you to try this.

I want you to be surrounded by complete silence. You can be in any position you are comfortable with. The purpose of this exercise is to get you to start listening by stopping the moment and listening to your inner dialogue. Once your in silence and in a comfortable position, start being curious about yourself. In your mind create a conversation with yourself. if you don’t know what to ask, here is a list of questions I asked myself through my inner thoughts:

“Am I good enough”?

“What is my purpose and Why am I here”?

“Where do I want to be in 5 years”?….

Of course I asked more questions but this is just to get you excited and on the right path.  I call it ‘talking to yourself’ through meditation.  It’s astonishing how the mind and spirit work. Before you attempt the exercise here is ONE thing you should know; don’t allow your mind to answer for you. By that I mean, don’t over think your answers and feel the need to answer every question. Why?

Because life is always a journey. There is no one answer but there is a meaning to every answer. So, think this way; that every answer leads another answer and that is your self discovery.

That my friends will take you out of feeling empty and finding your energy within.

.I hope this helps, let me know how it goes for you.

Like anyone else, I love seeing comments and hearing what all kinds of people have to say.

Remember, we are powerful beyond measure.

The Fear of Being Alone

Posted by Andre Tehrani on April 15, 2011 in Self Help

Why do we fear being alone? Have you ever questioned it, or pondered what is so scary about being alone. I can’t speak for all but I can speak for myself, fears are daunting. It can be so powerful to the point I feel trapped and overwhelmed. I can’t stop worrying about my life because of the fear of failing.

We all have different fears. Some are shared and some are personal experiences. That said, the fear of being alone is like any fear, all fears do the same thing to us. They make us feel worried, concerned, scared, anxious and in my opinion the biggest of all, stressed.

What I want to tell you is fear is a challenge. Something that is in our human nature that’s indescribable.

The way to overcoming fear is by being aware of what your afraid of.

Simple & Easy.

So just take out a paper and pen & ask yourself these questions.

What are you afraid of?

Why do you fear it?

How is it limiting your life?

Where can you improve?

When do you want to change?

So the last question, I’m going to provide you with the answer :P

NOW!

When you begin to feel fear, accept it and try to understand it by questioning it. Use the questions above. The point is you have to pick up on the message the fear is offering you. When you feel fear, you NEED to change your perception of it. Look at it right in the eye and say, you don’t scare me, I’m my own believer.

How To Start Feeling Good

Posted by Andre Tehrani on March 28, 2011 in Confidence, Mental Health, Self Help

Are you depressed and tired of being depressed? Do you feel that your depression isn’t going away?  In fact, are you someone who feels that no matter how hard you try, depression won’t leave you alone.

This article is going to shed some light on depression and any other negative forms of feelings such as stress and anxiety you may be experiencing right now. I am going to give you three insights that are so clear and so easy to implement, that by the time you finish reading this post you’ll be feeling good again, back to your old happy you.

In North America 1 in 3 people are diagnosed with a mental illness and depression is a serious form of mental illness.  It affects your mind from doing things you want to do; such as excercise, eat right, smile, chores, responsibilities and whatever else you planned.  You name it, you guess it, depression is one tough cookie to get rid of.

The reason it’s so hard out getting out of the state of depression is because it affects the mind, the hard drive for your computer; your body.  I remember when ever I experienced a break-up, I was so out of the loop of things in my life, it’s like I lost meaning to life.  I didn’t know why I was alive, what made me happy, I was just so messed up mentally and physically, it felt like there was no soul in me.

So during those tough times where I was depressed with depression, I began to investigate myself internally; soul searching as they say. That means taking valued time to see what was bothering me inside so much.

I discovered that I had built up a bunch of insecurities that were not true, that were ultimately being the cause of my depression. You see, depression in my opinion is just another word for limit.  We human beings have the need to always want more, to evolve, therefore, to overcome challenges we need to overcome certain limits about ourselves which is left to our destiny.

That being said, here is 3 Easy Steps in overcoming depression so you can start feeling good again:

1. Set Realistic Goals

Make short term and long term goals.  Don’t be irrational when your setting goals; be as realistic as you can.  You want to set the game up to win, so do things like; Smiling at someone I don’t usually smile to or, put some money aside for a vacation.

2. Commit to an Action Plan

So you set your goals and now you have a target you can see. But the fun has just began.  It’s time to bring out your dusty calendar and begin jolting away the things you want done, when you want done  and how your going to get your goals met.  Let’ say you just got out of a relationship, so a short term goal would be; overcome sadness.  Your long term goal would be; two dates per week in a months time.  How are you going to do it depends totally on how bad you want it.

3. Pride Yourself to Knocking Off Those Goals

Language is the most powerful form of communication our world has to offer. For example,  when my muscles are giving out as I’m working out, I remember the Nike slogan Just Do It and I push myself. Those combination of words have so much meaning that by repeating them in my head, I get passed my limit.  I prevent my depression.

So what are you waiting for!

Go now and grab your pen along with a piece of paper. Start writing down your short and long term goals.  Create and commit to your action plan and make sure those goals are met, somehow, someway. If there’s a will there’s a way.

Once you begin checking off your list,  you’ll feel liberated and great about yourself.

That’s the art of Feeling Good. And,

Remember this,

“God’s delays are not God’s denials”.

Figuring Out What You Want

Posted by Andre Tehrani on January 31, 2011 in Confidence, Motivation, Self Help

Are you looking for motivation, desire and direction towards managing your life? If this is you I ask you to ask yourself: What is your passion?  Figure that out first by letting the mind absorb the truest answer.

In order to grow your self esteem you must start by putting in time for yourself everyday in figuring out what must be accomplished. You know, getting that checkmark and feeling good. The reason goal setting works for most people is because it builds your personalized life’s road map.  Do this because it minimizes the gap between where you are and where you want to go. Your basically turning your wants into a vision.

Here is a Goal Setting Exercise surely will kick-off your road map. For this to be done properly, you need a:

  • Piece of paper
  • Pen of your choice
  • Open mind.

The best way to go about this is to be brutally honest with yourself since most change comes from honesty. So the material that is filled in by you should be fully honest. On your piece of paper write:

Title: My Goals

Subject: My Short/Long Term Goals

Followed with:

A 3 Step Goal Setting Process:

1) What Do I Want?

2) Why Do I Want It?

3) By When? (Challenge: aim to be as realistic as possible)

Congratulations!

Now you know what you want, why you want it and by when you need it. Pat yourself on the back, that’s very well deserving. Now this is important to:  If you don’t get what you want at the time you claimed to have it, don’t be discouraged.  Just understand that you didn’t get what you want either because you weren’t ready to receive it or you weren’t realistic  to the timing of your goal.

Think of it like a plant. The plant requires you to feed it water and position it under sun. Therefore, just writing it down doesn’t accumulate to much. You need to have the vision in order to understand which way to work.

If this article helped you, please like and share

Information on Depression

Posted by Andre Tehrani on January 29, 2011 in Mental Health, Self Help

Depression should be taken very seriously because it is the leading cause of mental illnesses affecting North America today. Are feelings of sadness, nervousness and fear overshadowing your life? Did you become depressed over a parental divorce, relationship break up, death of a loved one, addiction to drugs or loss of a job? Well, continue reading so you can figure out how to handle and overcome your depression whether it is big or small.

To stop feeling depressed, you need to understand that depression is a natural feeling.  We get depressed to notice what’s not working in our lives so we can fix them for the better. The ultimate goal of overcoming depression is for the most part, incorporating a healthier, positive lifestyle with YOURSELF!

Below are some advice towards handling and solving depression on your own:

  • In order to bring the change you seek, YOU need to change.  You need to be the person who depends solely on yourself for bringing yourself up emotionally, mentally and physically.  Only you know why your stressed, therefore, only you know how to overcome your stress. Start by being more of what you want to be and others to be towards you. For example, if you want to feel love from people, you need to be love.  You give what you get, a law of the universe.
  • Affirm to yourself everyday of who you are being to yourself and others. Start by writing down what you want on a card and take that card with you everywhere! Incorporate daily things you think that will keep you on track of your goal.  For example, make your phone wallpaper a “message” writing “You don’t smoke” if your trying to stop smoking; every time you open your phone that message is being delivered to your subconscious and reminding you to not smoke.
  • Honesty is the best policy. Be honest with your feelings and do the best you can in your own life. Don’t let external energies distract you from what you truly want for yourself.

We all have the innate power to change. We all have the innate power to get what we want and deserve out of life.  The most important thing is having a heathy mind, so overcome depression by embracing why you are depressed and how you going to make yourself feel better about your current sadness.

Be the change you seek and work hard at it.

How To Figure Out Your Purpose

Posted by Andre Tehrani on January 21, 2011 in Motivation, Self Help

Why are some people more successful than others? Have you ever wondered that?

Literally, what makes certain people better off than others.  Do they have a certain quality about themselves? Do they have better habits? Seriously, I want to discover the secret or hidden key for what makes someone successful in life.

Let’s dive right in.

It is said that a genius is a genius because of how consistent and persistent they are in acquiring and living out their true passion in life.  In other words, they practise everyday what they love doing.  You see, they weren’t afraid to somehow make their passion into a reality. The best example I can give are athletes.

They had a goal of becoming a professional, in most cases at a younge age.  Through all their hard work, preperation and planning, they begin the career of their dreams.

It’s very important to know what you want out of life so you can identify what your true passion is in life. When you do find your passion and goal, well the work has just begun. Write it down in a personal journal, reread it a couple of times and construct it’s creation.   You need to work harder, believe stronger and vizualize your end result.

Remember sucess leaves clues.

How to Find Your Motivation

Posted by Andre Tehrani on January 13, 2011 in Self Help

Today I learned something new. It was revolutionizing.

You see, what I learned today is something everyone wants to know.  No it is not the secret map to Pandora’s box.

What exactly am I talking about? …

Motivation.

There is a lot of advice on motivation, I know.  I assure you however, what I have to say will make so much sense to you that you’ll be so glad to finish reading this article as it will put you in the 1% of people called achievers. In fact, I am confident in my material regarding motivation, I believe it will move you to spread the word about this articles offerings and share the insights to everyone you meet.

Let’s begin shall we?

When it comes to motivation, people are motivated by TWO things: pleasure & pain and pain being the biggest motivator of the two. How can that be so you say?

You see, pain is the biggest factor in why we make the decisions we make.  For example, let’s look at the topic of money.  Most people want to be millionaires and financially free but they stop on their journey towards financial freedom because the process of making money is too painful. You can also see this the other way.

You live in a reality of poverty and suffering and that pain is something you don’t want to live with, so you decide one day, you do not want to live like this so you become geared towards making money and becoming financially free so you don’t have to live with the pain of poverty and suffering ever again.

Makes sense EH!

I have a lot of students both part time and full time who read this blog, so the best way I can relate this to you is as follows.  You don’t want to do your assignment because it’s boring, long, painful and something you feel your forced to do.  But on the other hand, you know that if you don’t work on your assignment than your going to have pain either way.

The best thing I can tell you is look at finding the pleasure through the pain.

Myself speaking, I find it to be quite pleasurable when I finish an assignment I did not enjoy beforehand, and earn a mark I am happy with as opposed to, stressing and leaving it last minute where the stress of time pressure makes it even more painful to write my assignment and I then deal with the reality of receiving more pain by receiving a lousy mark.

Important to keep in mind, some people work better last minute, but, working last minute is not a smart way of working.

So the message I want to share with you today is simple. So simple, it will revolutionize your life. That is if you apply it. By that I mean, some of you will read this and then not think anything of it, some of you will read this and apply it to your life right away, some of you may take longer but I am happy you have come this far as I feel this article is something everyone needs to read.  Whatever your case may be, I want you to come away with this insight.

What you focus on becomes your reality. I Repeat. What you focus on becomes your reality.

So, If you want a red sports car, everywhere you go out in the world you will notice red sports cars.  So by focussing on the things that cost you the most pain, this is where you will find your motivation.

For myself, it is painful not driving a red sports car so I am very motivated to earn myself the financial capacity to own a red sports car.

I leave you with this:

Determine. Focus. Control

Planning Your New Years Goals

Posted by Andre Tehrani on January 4, 2011 in Motivation, Self Help
I like to start this article by wishing everyone a very prosperous, joyous and most importantly HEALTHY Happy 2011 Year and may this year be your best.
One thing you shoud know about me is that I am a very superstitious person.  Not a “crazy” superstitious person but a well thoughtful one.  Since this year is composed with the number eleven, eleven being a lucky number, I feel that this year will be a great year for me and for every human being on the planet.
In 2010 I have come to terms with a phenomena that has changed my life for the better.  It’s not really a phenomena but a practical routine.  What exactly am I talking about? I am talking about Goals.
Before I go on to explain why goal setting is extremely important towards achieving things in life, I have this to say about goal setting from my own experience.
Writing down your goals feels like having super powers you don’t even know about. The great thing about it is, it is a super power everyone has but a few use.
Consistently that is.
Earlier this year I listened to what the movie The Secret was teaching in it’s 90 minutes of time and I sat my ass down and wrote down what my goals where for 2010. However that wasn’t enough, so I wrote down what my goals where and why those where my goals. By doing so, I gave my goals a purpose and when something has a purpose behind it, it’s course of action becomes much more powerful.
The misconception between New Year Resolutions and Goals are that they are the same thing, just the fact that New Year Resolutions are just another word for goals, they’re just “goals” you set on New Years.

The reason I am talking about New Year Resolutions and Goal setting is because I want to silence the critiques who don’t believe in New Years Resolutions. I think New Year is a great time to start on goals and setting resolutions because it is a fresh start, bringing forward newer experiences.

The beauty of life is that it is all from within, not from without.  When you write down your goals and resolutions, your allowing your within to express out and manifest.  When you don’t, that’s why you feel empty.

I have an uncle who smoked cigarettes for twenty five years and he hated it. It was his goal to quit one day for good.  In fact that goal was made he told me in his first year when he started smoking but never had the strength to, until one day, his friend was diagnosed with cancer and died within three months.  His goal of quitting smoking twenty five years later came forth and it manifested, not allowing my uncle to touch a single cigarette from that day on.

Now you see, I am sure if my uncle didn’t have that goal in the back of his head to quit smoking, he would still be a smoker. That is what seperated people from achievers to non believers.

Non believers let life just happen, whatever the consequence whatever the action, it is not their doing.  The other hand, there are people who know what they want and strive to find every possible way to get it.  What keeps them focussed on obtaining what it is they desire? Their goals and resolutions.

Using myself as an example; My goal is to have one million dollars by the time I am twenty three year old and I want to make more money because I want to begin contributing to my family, friends and most importantly Myself. They say money makes you ten times more of who you are which is true, but I don’t see it that way.  I see money as giving you the freedom of choice and that is what I am striving for in life.  So I put that down as my goal this year

I Andre Tehrani will have One Million dollars in my bank account by the time I am twenty three years old because I want to contribute and give to my society and close surroundings.

I am interested to know what are you resolutions and goals?

Even if you don’t have any, WELL, don’t have any any longer, GET TO IT.

The universe is a genie waiting for your wish.

Make it a realistic one.
